नाग प्रतिमायाम् अन्तश् छन्नायां चैत्यच् छिद्रे वल्मीकच् छिद्रे वा सर्प दर्शनम् आहारेण प्रतिबद्ध संज्ञं कृत्वा श्रद्दधानानां दर्शयेत् ॥

Or they may place in a borehole made in the body of an image of a serpent, or in a hole in the corner of a temple, or in the hollow of an ant-hill, a cobra, which is, by diet, rendered unconscious, and call upon credulous spectators to see it (on payment of a certain amount of fee).

english translation

nAga pratimAyAm antaz channAyAM caityac chidre valmIkac chidre vA sarpa darzanam AhAreNa pratibaddha saMjJaM kRtvA zraddadhAnAnAM darzayet ॥
