स तूर्य घोष ध्वज पताकाभिर् व्यूह अङ्गानां संज्ञाः स्थापयेद् अङ्ग विभागे संघाते स्थाने गमने व्यावर्तने प्रहरणे च ॥
He should assign names to the divisions of the army using trumpets, battle cries, banners, and flags, whether in their distribution, assembly, encampment, marching, maneuvering, or attacking.

sa tUrya ghoSa dhvaja patAkAbhir vyUha aGgAnAM saMjJAH sthApayed aGga vibhAge saMghAte sthAne gamane vyAvartane praharaNe ca ॥

Per fection is achieved through the proper application of place, time, and essence in a balanced arrangement.

By the display of the army, by secret contrivances, by fiery spies employed to strike the enemy engaged otherwise, by witch-craft, by proclaiming the conqueror's association with gods, by carts, by the ornaments of elephants

yantrair upaniSad yogais tIkSNair vyAsakta ghAtibhiH । mAyAbhir deva samyogaiH zakaTair hasti bhISaNaiH ॥

By inciting traitors, by herds of cattle, by setting fire to the camp, by destroying the wings and the rear of the enemy's army, by sowing the seeds of dissension through the agency of men under the guise of servants;

dUSya prakopair go yUthaiH skandha AvAra pradIpanaiH । koTI jaghana ghAtair vA dUta vyaJjana bhedanaiH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript"दुर्गं दग्धं हृतं वा ते कोपः कुल्यः समुत्थितः । शत्रुर् आटविको वा" इति परस्य उद्वेगम् आचरेत् ॥
Or by telling the enemy that his fort was burnt, stormed, or that some one of his family, or an enemy or a wild chief rose in rebellion--by these and other means the conqueror should cause excitement to the enemy.
