पक्षाव् उरस्यं प्रतिग्रह इत्य् औशनसो व्यूह विभागः ॥
WINGS and front, capable to turn (against an enemy is what is called) a snake-like array (bhoga).
english translation
pakSAv urasyaM pratigraha ity auzanaso vyUha vibhAgaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपक्षौ कक्षाव् उरस्य्म् प्रतिग्रह इति बार्हस्प्त्यः ॥
the two wings, the two flanks, the front and the reserve (form an array) according to the school of Brihaspati.
english translation
pakSau kakSAv urasym pratigraha iti bArhasptyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रपक्ष कक्ष उरस्या उभयोः दण्ड भोग मण्डल असंहताः प्रकृति व्यूहाः ॥
The principal forms of the array of the army, such as that like a staff, like a snake, like a circle, and in detached order, are varieties of the above two forms of the array consisting of wings, flanks and front.

prapakSa kakSa urasyA ubhayoH daNDa bhoga maNDala asaMhatAH prakRti vyUhAH ॥

Stationing the army so as to stand abreast, is called a staff-like array (danda).
