Arthashastra
प्रकीर्णिक आवर्जान्य् एतान्य् एव चतुर्णाम् अङ्गानां व्यस्त समस्तानां वा घातः, पक्ष कक्ष उरस्यानां च प्रभञ्जनम् अवस्कन्दः सौप्तिकं च इति हसित् युद्धानि ॥
The same varieties with the exception of (what is called) miscellaneous operations; the destruction of the four constituents of the army, either single or combined; the dispersion of the flanks, wings and front trampling down; and attacking the army when it is asleep--these are the varieties of waging war with elephants.

prakIrNika AvarjAny etAny eva caturNAm aGgAnAM vyasta samastAnAM vA ghAtaH, pakSa kakSa urasyAnAM ca prabhaJjanam avaskandaH sauptikaM ca iti hasit yuddhAni ॥
