परिचारकच् छद्मना वा किंचिद् अरूप वेलायाम् आदाय निर्गच्छेत्, सुरुङ्गा मुखेन वा निशा उपहारेण ॥
or taking something in pitch dark, he may get out, disguised as a servant.

paricArakac chadmanA vA kiMcid arUpa velAyAm AdAya nirgacchet, suruGgA mukhena vA nizA upahAreNa ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतोय आशये वा वारुणं योगम् आतिष्ठेत् ॥
Or he may (pretend to) be in communion with god Varuna in a reservoir (which is seen) through a tunnel or to which he is taken at night.

toya Azaye vA vAruNaM yogam AtiSThet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवैदेहक व्यञ्जना वा पक्व अन्न फल व्यवहारेण आरक्षिषु रसम् उपचारयेयुः ॥
spies under the guise of traders dealing in cooked rice and fruits may (poison those things and) distribute among the sentinels.

vaidehaka vyaJjanA vA pakva anna phala vyavahAreNa ArakSiSu rasam upacArayeyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदैवत उपहार श्राद्ध प्रहवण निमित्तम् आरक्षिषु मदन योग युक्तम् अन्न पानं रसं वा प्रयुज्य अपगच्छेत्, आरक्षक प्रोत्साहनेन वा ॥
Or having served the sentinels with cooked rice and beverage mixed with the juice of madana plant on occasions of making offerings to gods or of performing an ancestral ceremony or some sacrificial rite, the prince may get out.

daivata upahAra zrAddha prahavaNa nimittam ArakSiSu madana yoga yuktam anna pAnaM rasaM vA prayujya apagacchet, ArakSaka protsAhanena vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनागरक कुशीलव चिकित्सक आपूपिक व्यञ्जना वा रात्रौ समृद्ध गृहाण्य् आदीपयेयुः आरक्षिणां वा ॥
or by bribing the sentinels; or spies disguised as a nágaraka (officer in charge of the city), a court-bard, or a physician may set fire to a building filled with valuable articles.
