दूष्य अमित्र आटविक द्वेष्य प्रत्यपसृताश् च कृत अर्थ मान संज्ञा चिह्नाः पर दुर्गम् अवस्कन्देयुः ॥
Let disaffected, hostile foresters, and those who have turned back, marked with insignia signifying their purpose and worth, storm the enemy's fort.
english translation
dUSya amitra ATavika dveSya pratyapasRtAz ca kRta artha mAna saMjJA cihnAH para durgam avaskandeyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर दुर्गम् अवस्कन्द्य स्कन्ध आवारं वा पतित परान् मुख अभिपन्नम् उक्त केश शस्त्र भय विरूपेभ्यश् च अभयम् अयुध्यमानेभ्यश् च दद्युः ॥
Having captured the fort or having returned to the camp after its capture, he should give quarter to those of the enemy's army who, whether as lying prostrate in the field, or as standing with their back turned to the conqueror, or with their hair dishevelled, with their weapons thrown down or with their body disfigured and shivering under fear, surrender themselves.

para durgam avaskandya skandha AvAraM vA patita parAn mukha abhipannam ukta keza zastra bhaya virUpebhyaz ca abhayam ayudhyamAnebhyaz ca dadyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर दुर्गम् अवाप्य विशुद्ध शत्रु पक्षं कृत उपांशु दण्ड प्रतीकारम् अन्तर् बहिश् च प्रविशेत् ॥
After the captured fort is cleared of the enemy's partisans and is well guarded by the conqueror's men both within and without, he should make his victorious entry into it.

para durgam avApya vizuddha zatru pakSaM kRta upAMzu daNDa pratIkAram antar bahiz ca pravizet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं विजिगीषुर् अमित्र भूमिं लब्ध्वा मध्यमं लिप्सेत, तत् सिद्धाव् उदासीनम् ॥
Having thus seized the territory of the enemy close to his country, the conqueror should direct his attention to that of the madhyama king; this being taken, he should catch hold of that of the neutral king.

evaM vijigISur amitra bhUmiM labdhvA madhyamaM lipseta, tat siddhAv udAsInam ॥
