स्थानिक व्यञ्जनं वा रात्रौ तेजन अग्नि युक्तम् एकान्ते तिष्ठन्तं सत्त्रिणः क्रम अभीनीतं राज्ञः कथयेयुः "असौ सिद्धः सामेधिकः" इति ॥

When an ascetic, pretending to be able to find out hidden treasure trove, is seated with his body burning with magical fire at night in a lonely place, his disciples may bring the king to see him and inform the king that the ascetic can find out treasure trove.

english translation

sthAnika vyaJjanaM vA rAtrau tejana agni yuktam ekAnte tiSThantaM sattriNaH krama abhInItaM rAjJaH kathayeyuH "asau siddhaH sAmedhikaH" iti ॥

तं राजा यम् अर्थं याचेत तम् अस्य करिष्यमाणः "सप्त रात्रम्" इति समानम् ॥

While engaged in performing some work at the request of the king, the latter may be requested to come and remain at the spot for seven nights . . . (as before).

english translation

taM rAjA yam arthaM yAceta tam asya kariSyamANaH "sapta rAtram" iti samAnam ॥

सिद्ध व्यञ्जनो वा राजानं जम्भक विद्याभिः प्रलोभयेत् ॥

An accomplished ascetic may beguile a king by his knowledge of the science of magic known as jambhaka.

siddha vyaJjano vA rAjAnaM jambhaka vidyAbhiH pralobhayet ॥

and request him to come and remain . . . (as before).

सिद्ध व्यञ्जनो वा देश देवताम् अभ्यर्हिताम् आश्रित्य प्रहवणैर् अभीक्ष्णं प्रकृति मुख्यान् अभिसंवास्य क्रमेण राजानम् अतिसंदध्यात् ॥

An accomplished ascetic, pretending to have secured the favour of the powerful guardian deity of the country, may often beguile the king's chief ministers with his wonderful performance and gradually impose upon the king.

siddha vyaJjano vA deza devatAm abhyarhitAm Azritya prahavaNair abhIkSNaM prakRti mukhyAn abhisaMvAsya krameNa rAjAnam atisaMdadhyAt ॥
