पितुः परिवापाद् यानम् आभरणं च ज्येष्ठ अंशः, शयन आसनं भुक्त कांस्यं च मध्यम अंशः, कृष्णं धान्य आयसं गृह परिवापो गो शकटं च कनिष्ठ अंशः ॥
The father being dead, his carriage and jewellery shall be the special share to the eldest; his bed, seat, and bronze plate in which he used to take his meals (bhuktakámsyam), to the middle-most;. and black grains, iron, domestic utensils, cows and cart to the youngest.
english translation
pituH parivApAd yAnam AbharaNaM ca jyeSTha aMzaH, zayana AsanaM bhukta kAMsyaM ca madhyama aMzaH, kRSNaM dhAnya AyasaM gRha parivApo go zakaTaM ca kaniSTha aMzaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशेष द्रव्याणाम् एक द्रव्यस्य वा समो विभागः ॥
The rest of the property, or the above things, too, may be equally divided among themselves.
english translation
zeSa dravyANAm eka dravyasya vA samo vibhAgaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअदायादा भगिन्यः, मातुः परिवापाद् भुक्त कांस्य आभरण भागिन्यः ॥
Sisters shall have no claim to inheritance; they shall have the bronze plate and jewellery of their mother after her death.
english translation
adAyAdA bhaginyaH, mAtuH parivApAd bhukta kAMsya AbharaNa bhAginyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमानुष हीनो ज्येष्ठस् तृतीयम् अंशं ज्येष्ठ अंशाल् लभेत, चतुर्थम् अन्याय वृत्तिः, निवृत्त धर्म कार्यो वा ॥
An impotent eldest son shall have only 1/3rd of the special share usually given to the eldest; if the eldest son follows a condemnable occupation or if he has given up the observance of religious duties, he shall have only ¼ of the special share.
english translation
mAnuSa hIno jyeSThas tRtIyam aMzaM jyeSTha aMzAl labheta, caturtham anyAya vRttiH, nivRtta dharma kAryo vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकाम आचारः सर्वं जीयेत ॥
if he is unrestrained in his actions he shall have nothing.
