पति दायं विन्दमाना जीयेत ॥
No woman shall succeed in her attempt to establish her title to the property of her husband.
english translation
pati dAyaM vindamAnA jIyeta ॥
27
धर्म कामा भुञ्जीत ॥
If she lives a pious life, she may enjoy it (dharmakámá bhunjíta).
dharma kAmA bhuJjIta ॥
28
पुत्रवती विन्दमाना स्त्री धनं जीयेत ॥
No woman with a son or sons shall be at liberty to make free use of her own property (strídhana).
putravatI vindamAnA strI dhanaM jIyeta ॥
29
तत् तु स्त्री धनं पुत्रा हरेयुः ॥
for that property of hers her sons shall receive.
tat tu strI dhanaM putrA hareyuH ॥
30
पुत्र भरण अर्थं वा विन्दमाना पुत्र अर्थं स्फाती कुर्यात् ॥
If a woman attempts to take possession of her own property under the plea of maintaining her sons, she shall be made to endow it in their name.
putra bharaNa arthaM vA vindamAnA putra arthaM sphAtI kuryAt ॥
