द्वारे गृहस्य सेनाया ग्रामस्य नगरस्य वा । पुत्र दारः सधन स्त्रीन् पक्षान् न अतिवर्तते ॥

Or near the house of, a man or in the vicinity of the camp of an army, of a village, or of a city, that man (or the body of men) with wife, children, and wealth will not survive three fortnights.

english translation

dvAre gRhasya senAyA grAmasya nagarasya vA । putra dAraH sadhana strIn pakSAn na ativartate ॥

अज मर्कट रोमाणि मार्जार नकुलस्य च । ब्राह्मणानां श्व पाकानां काक उलूकस्य च आहरेत् । एतेन विष्ठा अवक्षुण्णा सद्य उत्साद कारिका ॥

When the hair of a sheep and a monkey, of a cat and mongoose, of Bráhmans, of low-caste men (svapáka), and of a crow and an owl is collected, And is made into a paste with fæces (vishtávakshunna), its application brings on instantaneous death.

aja markaTa romANi mArjAra nakulasya ca । brAhmaNAnAM zva pAkAnAM kAka ulUkasya ca Aharet । etena viSThA avakSuNNA sadya utsAda kArikA ॥

प्रेत निर्मालिका किण्वं रोमाणि नकुलस्य च । वृश्चिक आल्य् अहि कृत्तिश् च पदे यस्य निखन्यते । भवत्य् अपुरुषः सद्यो यावत् तन् न अपनीयते ॥

When a flower garland of a dead body, the ferment derived from burning corpse, the hair of a mangoose, And the skin of scorpion, a bee, and a snake are buried under the feet of a man, that man will lose all human appearance so long as they are not removed.

preta nirmAlikA kiNvaM romANi nakulasya ca । vRzcika Aly ahi kRttiz ca pade yasya nikhanyate । bhavaty apuruSaH sadyo yAvat tan na apanIyate ॥

त्रि रात्र उपोषितः पुष्येण शस्त्र हतस्य शूल प्रोतस्य वा पुंसः शिरः कपाले मृत्तिकायां गुञ्जा आवास्य उदकेन सेचयेत् ॥

Having fasted for three nights and having on the day of the star of Pushya planted gunja seeds in the skull, filled with soil, of a man killed with weapons or put to the gallows, one should irrigate it with water.

tri rAtra upoSitaH puSyeNa zastra hatasya zUla protasya vA puMsaH ziraH kapAle mRttikAyAM guJjA AvAsya udakena secayet ॥

जातानाम् अमावास्यायां पौर्णमास्यां वा पुष्य योगिन्यां गुञ्ज वल्लीर् ग्राहयित्वा मण्डलिकानि कारयेत् ॥

On the new or full moon day with the star of Pushya, one should take out the plants when grown, and prepare out of them circular pedestals (mandaliká).

english translation

jAtAnAm amAvAsyAyAM paurNamAsyAM vA puSya yoginyAM guJja vallIr grAhayitvA maNDalikAni kArayet ॥
