सुखं स्वपन्तु शुनका ये च ग्रामे कुतूहलाः । सुखं स्वपन्तु सिद्ध अर्था यम् अर्थं मार्गयामहे । यावद् अस्तम् अयाद् उदयो यावद् अर्थं फलं मम ॥
May the dogs which are anxiously keeping watch over the village fall into deep and happy slumber. May all prophets (siddhártháh) fall into happy sleep about the object which we are seeking from sunset to sunrise and till the attainment of my desired end.
english translation
sukhaM svapantu zunakA ye ca grAme kutUhalAH । sukhaM svapantu siddha arthA yam arthaM mArgayAmahe । yAvad astam ayAd udayo yAvad arthaM phalaM mama ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptचतुर् भक्त उपवासी कृष्ण चतुर्दश्याम् असंकीर्ण आदहने बलिं कृत्वा एतेन मन्त्रेण शव शारिकां गृहीत्वा पौत्री पोट्टलिकं बध्नीयात् ॥
Having fasted for four nights and having on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the month performed animal sacrifice (bali) in cremation grounds, one should, repeating the above mantra, collect the pith of a corpse (savasárika) and keep it in a basket made of leaves (pattrapauttaliká).
english translation
catur bhakta upavAsI kRSNa caturdazyAm asaMkIrNa Adahane baliM kRtvA etena mantreNa zava zArikAM gRhItvA pautrI poTTalikaM badhnIyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतन् मध्ये श्वा विधः शल्यकेन विद्ध्वा यत्र एतेन मन्त्रेण निखन्यते तत् सर्वं प्रस्वापयति ॥
When this basket, being pierced in the centre by a dart-like hair of a porcupine, is buried, chanting the above mantra, the whole animal life therein falls into deep slumber.

tan madhye zvA vidhaH zalyakena viddhvA yatra etena mantreNa nikhanyate tat sarvaM prasvApayati ॥
