Sushruta Samhita
(चन्द्रमण्डलवच्छेदान् पाणिपादेषु कारयेत् । अर्धचन्द्राकृतींश्चापि गुदे मेढ्रे च बुद्धिमान्) ॥१४॥
Incisions on the hands and feet should be made in the shape of a crescent moon (chandramandala-vat). Similarly, for procedures involving the anus and genital region (gude meḍhre), a wise practitioner should also opt for crescent-shaped incisions to ensure optimal healing and minimal complications.
