दन्त्योऽग्निमेधाजननोऽल्पमूत्रस्त्वच्योऽथ केश्योऽनिलहा गुरुश्च | तिलेषु सर्वेष्वसितः प्रधानो मध्यः सितो हीनतरास्तथाऽन्ये ||४०||

sanskrit

"Sesame seeds (tila) are considered to stimulate digestion, increase appetite, and are beneficial for the skin and hair. They are heavy, and among all varieties of sesame seeds, those that are black are considered superior. The white ones are less effective, while other varieties are even less effective."

english translation

"तिल (तिल) अग्नि को उत्तेजित करने वाले, भूख को बढ़ाने वाले, त्वचा और बालों के लिए लाभकारी होते हैं। ये भारी होते हैं, और तिल की सभी किस्मों में काले तिल श्रेष्ठ माने जाते हैं। सफेद तिल कम प्रभावी होते हैं, जबकि अन्य किस्में और भी कम प्रभावी होती हैं।"
