नात्यर्थं वातलास्तेषु मुद्गा दृष्टिप्रसादनाः | प्रधाना हरितास्तत्र वन्या मुद्गसमाः स्मृताः ||२९||

sanskrit

"Among them, the lentils that are not excessively drying or wind-inducing are those that have a beneficial effect on vision. The principal ones are the green (harita) lentils, which are considered superior and similar to mudga (mung beans)."

english translation

"उनमें से, जो दालें अत्यधिक सूखने वाली या वात वर्धक नहीं होतीं, वे दृष्टि को लाभ पहुंचाती हैं। मुख्यत: हरी दालें (हरिता) ऐसी होती हैं, जो प्रमुख हैं और मूंग दाल के समान मानी जाती हैं।"
