त्वङ्मांसशोणितगताः कुपितास्तु दोषाः सर्वाङ्गसारिणमिहास्थितमात्मलिङ्गम् | कुर्वन्ति विस्तृतमनुन्नतमाशु शोफं तं सर्वतो विसरणाच्च विसर्पमाहुः ||३||
The deranged and aggravated Doshas (Vayu, Pitta, and Kapha), residing in the skin, flesh, and blood, affect the self-essence located throughout the body. They give rise to a rapidly spreading, elevated swelling (Sotha), which is referred to as Visarpa due to its tendency to extend in all directions.

विकृत और कुपित दोष (वायु, पित्त और कफ), जो त्वचा, मांस और रक्त में रहते हैं, शरीर में कहीं भी स्थित आत्मलिंग को प्रभावित करते हैं। ये दोष तेजी से फैलने वाले ऊँचे शोफ का निर्माण करते हैं। इसे सभी ओर फैलने के कारण विसर्प कहा जाता है।
