वलनम् प्राङ्मुखम् देयम् तद्विक्षेपैकता यदि । भेदे पश्चान् मुखम् देयम् इन्दोर् भानोर् विपर्ययात्॥

sanskrit

The deflection is to be laid off—eastward, when it and the latitude are of the same direction; when they are of different directions, it is to be laid off westward : this is for a lunar eclipse; in a solar, the contrary is the case.

english translation

valanam prAGmukham deyam tadvikSepaikatA yadi । bhede pazcAn mukham deyam indor bhAnor viparyayAt॥
