स्फुटतिथ्यवसाने तु मध्यग्रहणम् आदिशेत् । स्थित्यर्धनाडिकाहीने ग्रासो मोक्षस् तु सम्युते॥
At the end of the true lunar day (i. e. at the time of the full moon) the middle of the eclipse takes place; this time diminished by the exact first Sthityardha leaves the time of the beginning, and increased by the latter exact Sthityardha gives the time of the end.

In the same manner, the time of the middle of a total eclipse diminished and increased (separately) by the exact first and second mardárdhas gives the times of the beginning and end of the total darkness (respectively).

Multiply the diurnal motion of the Moon from the Sun by the (first) Sthityardha diminished by given ghaṭikás and divide the product by 60, the quotient is the Koṭi in minutes (or the perpendicular of the right angled triangle of which the Moon's latitude is the base and the distance between the centres of that which is the coveror and that which is to be covered is the hypothenuse).

In an eclipse of the Sun, the Koti in minutes (above found,) multiplied by the mean Sthityardha and divided by the apparent[1] Sthityardha becomes the Sphuṭa or apparent Koṭi in minutes.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptक्षेपो भुजस् तयोर् वर्गयुतेर् मूलम् श्रवस् तु तत् । मानयोगार्धतः प्रोज्झ्य ग्रासस् तात्कालिको भवेत्॥
The Moon's latitude is the Bhuja (or base) and the square-root of the sum of the squares of the Koṭi and Bhuja is the hypothenuse (of the triangle as mentioned before in Śloka 18th). Subtract the hypothenuse from half the sum of the diameters (as stated in Śloka 10th); the remainder will be the quantity of the eclipsed part (of the disc) at the time (at which the Koṭi and Bhuja are ascertained).
