कालेनाल्पेन भगणम् भुङ्क्ते +अल्पभ्रमणाश्रितः। ग्रहः कालेन महता मण्डले महति भ्रमन्॥
A planet situated upon a small circuit {bhramana) traverses the circle of constellations (bhagana) in a little time ; one revolving on a large circle (mandala), in a long time.
english translation
स्वल्पयातो बहून् भुङ्क्ते भगणान् शीतदीधितिः। महत्या कक्षया गच्छन् ततः स्वल्पम् शनैश्चरः॥
The moon, upon a very small orbit, makes many revolutions : Saturn, moving upon a great orbit, makes, as compared with her, a much less number of revolutions.
english translation
मन्दाद् अधः क्रमेण स्युश् चतुर्था दिवसाधिपाः। वर्षाधिपतयस् तद्वत् तृतीयाश् च प्रकीर्तिताः॥
Starting from Saturn downward, the fourth planet is called the regent of the day (divasadhipa) and the third planet is called the regent of the year (varshadhipati).
english translation
ऊर्ध्वक्रमेण शशिनो *मासानाम् अधिपाः स्मृताः(ड् मसानाम्)। होरेशाः सूर्यतनयाद् अधो+अधः क्रमशस् तथा॥
The planets starting from the moon successively upwards are the regents of the months. The planets starting from Saturn successively downwards are the regents of the hour (horä).
english translation
भवेद् भकक्षा तीक्ष्णाम्शोर् भ्रमणम् षष्टिताडितम् । सर्वोपरिष्टाद् भ्रमति योजनैस् तैर् भमण्डलम्॥
The orbit (.kakstid) of the asterisms. (bha) is the circuit (bhramana) of the sun multiplied by sixty : by so many yojanas does the circle of the asterisms revolve above all.
