शृणुष्वैकमना भूत्वा गुह्यम् अध्यात्म सम्ज्ञितम् । प्रवक्ष्याम्य् अतिभक्तानाम् नादेयम् विद्यते मम॥
Listen with concentrated attention, the mysterious and transcendental (adhyätma) account I am about to give you. There is nothing which I would not bestow upon all those who are extremely devoted to me.
english translation
वासुदेवः परम् ब्रह्म तन्मूर्तिः पुरुषः परः। अव्यक्तो निर्गुणः शान्तः पञ्चविम्शात् परो +अव्ययः॥
Vasudeva is the supreme brahma, his form is that of the supreme Person (purusha), un-manifest, attributeless, serene, immutable and beyond the twenty five elements.
english translation
प्रकृत्यन्तर्गतो देवो बहिर् अन्तश् च सर्वगः। सङ्कर्षणो +अपः सृष्ट्वादौ तासु वीर्यम् अवासृजत्॥
He is present in everything in nature (prakriti), without and within. At the beginning of creation, He had injected his own essence in the primordial water.
english translation
तदण्डम् अभवद् धैमम् सर्वत्र तमसावृतम् । तत्रानिरुद्धः प्रथमम् व्यक्तीभूतः सनातनः॥
That water took the form of a golden egg, enveloped in darkness. Within this egg Sanatana Aniruddha (the unrestrained and everlasting one) first manifested Himself.
english translation
हिरण्यगर्भो भगवान् एष छन्दसि पठ्यते। आदित्यो ह्य् आदिभूतत्वात् प्रसूत्या सूर्य उच्यते॥
He is described in the Vedas as hiraëyagarbha [He in the scripture (chandas) is denominated the golden-wombed (hiranyagarbha) ]. Because He was there at the beginning (ädi), He is called Äditya and because He is the creator, He is called the sun (Sürya).
