तस्मात्सङ्कीर्तनं विष्णोर्जगन्मङ्गलमंहसाम् । महतामपि कौरव्य विद्ध्यैकान्तिकनिष्कृतिम् ।। ६-३-३१ ।।

Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: My dear King, the chanting of the holy name of the Lord is able to uproot even the reactions of the greatest sins. Therefore the chanting of the saṅkīrtana movement is the most auspicious activity in the entire universe. Please try to understand this so that others will take it seriously. ।। 6-3-31 ।।

english translation

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : हे राजन्! भगवन्नाम का कीर्तन बड़े से बड़े पापों के फलों को भी उन्मूलित करने में सक्षम है। इसलिए सङ्कीर्तन आन्दोलन का कीर्तन सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड में सबसे शुभ कार्य है। कृपया इसे समझने का प्रयास करें जिससे अन्य लोग इसे गम्भीरतापूर्वक ग्रहण कर सकें। ।। ६-३-३१ ।।

श‍ृण्वतां गृणतां वीर्याण्युद्दामानि हरेर्मुहुः । यथा सुजातया भक्त्या शुद्ध्येन्नात्मा व्रतादिभिः ।। ६-३-३२ ।।

One who constantly hears and chants the holy name of the Lord and hears and chants about His activities can very easily attain the platform of pure devotional service, which can cleanse the dirt from one’s heart. One cannot achieve such purification merely by observing vows and performing Vedic ritualistic ceremonies. ।। 6-3-32 ।।

english translation

जो व्यक्ति भगवन्नाम का निरन्तर श्रवण तथा कीर्तन करता है और भगवान् के कार्यों का श्रवण तथा कीर्तन करता है, वह बहुत ही आसानी से शुद्ध भक्ति पद को प्राप्त कर सकता है, जो उसके हृदय के मैल को शुद्ध करने वाला है। केवल व्रत रखने तथा वैदिक कर्मकाण्ड करने से ऐसी शुद्धि प्राप्त नहीं की जा सकती। ।। ६-३-३२ ।।

कृष्णाङ्घ्रिपद्ममधुलिण् न पुनर्विसृष्टमायागुणेषु रमते वृजिनावहेषु । अन्यस्तु कामहत आत्मरजः प्रमार्ष्टुमीहेत कर्म यत एव रजः पुनः स्यात् ।। ६-३-३३ ।।

Devotees who always lick the honey from the lotus feet of Lord Kṛṣṇa do not care at all for material activities, which are performed under the three modes of material nature and which bring only misery. Indeed, devotees never give up the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa to return to material activities. Others, however, who are addicted to Vedic rituals because they have neglected the service of the Lord’s lotus feet and are enchanted by lusty desires, sometimes perform acts of atonement. Nevertheless, being incompletely purified, they return to sinful activities again and again. ।। 6-3-33 ।।

english translation

जो भक्तगण भगवान् कृष्ण के चरणकमलों के मधु को जो भक्तगण सदैव चाटते रहते हैं, वे उन भौतिक कर्मों की तनिक भी चिन्ता नहीं करते जो प्रकृति के तीन गुणों के अधीन सम्पन्न किये जाते हैं और जो केवल दु:खदायी होते हैं। दरअसल, भौतिक कर्मों में वापस आने के लिए भक्तगण कभी भी कृष्ण के चरणकमलों को नहीं छोड़ते। किन्तु अन्य लोग, जो भगवान् के चरणकमलों की सेवा की उपेक्षा करने तथा कामेच्छाओं से विमोहित होने से वैदिक कर्मकाण्डों में लिप्त रहते हैं, कभी-कभी प्रायश्चित्त के कर्म करते हैं। फिर भी अपूर्णरूप से शुद्ध होने से वे पुन:-पुन: पापकर्मों में लौट आते हैं। ।। ६-३-३३ ।।

इत्थं स्वभर्तृगदितं भगवन्महित्वं संस्मृत्य विस्मितधियो यमकिङ्करास्ते । नैवाच्युताश्रयजनं प्रतिशङ्कमाना द्रष्टुं च बिभ्यति ततः प्रभृति स्म राजन् ।। ६-३-३४ ।।

After hearing from the mouth of their master about the extraordinary glories of the Lord and His name, fame and attributes, the Yamadūtas were struck with wonder. Since then, as soon as they see a devotee, they fear him and dare not look at him again. ।। 6-3-34 ।।

english translation

अपने स्वामी के मुख से भगवान् की अद्वितीय महिमा तथा उनके नाम, यश तथा गुणों के विषय में सुनकर यमदूत आश्चर्यचकित रह गये। तब से, जैसे ही वे किसी भक्त को देखते हैं, तो वे उससे डरते हैं और उसकी ओर फिर से देखने का साहस नहीं करते। ।। ६-३-३४ ।।

इतिहासमिमं गुह्यं भगवान् कुम्भसम्भवः । कथयामास मलये आसीनो हरिमर्चयन् ।। ६-३-३५ ।।

When the great sage Agastya, the son of Kumbha, was residing in the Malaya Hills and worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I approached him, and he explained to me this confidential history. ।। 6-3-35 ।।

english translation

जब कुम्भ के पुत्र अगस्त्य मुनि मलय पर्वत पर निवास कर रहे थे और पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् की पूजा कर रहे थे तो मैं उनके पास गया और उन्होंने मुझे यह गुह्य इतिहास बतलाया। ।। ६-३-३५ ।।
