यमदूता ऊचुः वेदप्रणिहितो धर्मो ह्यधर्मस्तद्विपर्ययः । वेदो नारायणः साक्षात्स्वयम्भूरिति शुश्रुम ॥ ६-१-४० ॥
The Yamadūtas replied: That which is prescribed in the Vedas constitutes dharma, the religious principles, and the opposite of that is irreligion. The Vedas are directly the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa, and are self-born. This we have heard from Yamarāja. ॥ 6-1-40 ॥

यमदूतों ने उत्तर दिया: जो वेदों द्वारा संस्तुत है, वही धर्म है और इसका विलोम अधर्म है। वेद साक्षात् पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् हैं, नारायण हैं और स्वयं उत्पन्न हुए हैं। हमने यमराज से यह सुना है। ॥ ६-१-४० ॥
