ते च ह्यर्वाक्तनया निजलोकयात्रयान्धपरम्परयाऽऽश्वस्तास्तमस्यन्धे स्वयमेव प्रपतिष्यन्ति ।। ५-६-११ ।।

sanskrit

Low-class people, due to their gross ignorance, introduce a system of religion that deviates from the Vedic principles. Following their own mental concoctions, they automatically fall down into the darkest regions of existence. ।। 5-6-11 ।।

english translation

अधम लोग अपने अज्ञानवश वैदिक नियमों से हटकर चलने वाली धार्मिक प्रणाली का सूत्रपात करते हैं। वे अपने मानसिक ढोंगों के कारण स्वयं ही घोर अंधकार में गिरते हैं। ।। ५-६-११ ।।

अयमवतारो रजसोपप्लुतकैवल्योपशिक्षणार्थः ।। ५-६-१२ ।।

sanskrit

In this Age of Kali, people are overwhelmed by the modes of passion and ignorance. Lord Ṛṣabhadeva incarnated Himself to deliver them from the clutches of māyā. ।। 5-6-12 ।।

english translation

इस कलियुग में लोग रजो तथा तमो गुणों से भरे हुए हैं। भगवान् ऋषभदेव ने इन लोगों को माया के चंगुल से छुड़ाने के लिए ही अवतार लिया था। ।। ५-६-१२ ।।

तस्यानुगुणान् श्लोकान् गायन्ति अहो भुवः सप्तसमुद्रवत्या द्वीपेषु वर्षेष्वधिपुण्यमेतत् । गायन्ति यत्रत्यजना मुरारेः कर्माणि भद्राण्यवतारवन्ति ।। ५-६-१३ ।।

Learned scholars chant about the transcendental qualities of Lord Ṛṣabhadeva in this way: “Oh, this earthly planet contains seven seas and many islands and lands, of which Bhārata-varṣa is considered the most pious. People of Bhārata-varṣa are accustomed to glorifying the activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His incarnations as Lord Ṛṣabhadeva and others. All these activities are very auspicious for the welfare of humanity. ।। 5-6-13 ।।

english translation

विद्वानजन भगवान् ऋषभदेव के दिव्य गुणों का जाप इस प्रकार करते हैं—“ओह! इस पृथ्वीलोक में सात समुद्र तथा अनेक द्वीप और वर्ष हैं जिनमें से भारतवर्ष सबसे अधिक पवित्र है। भारतवर्ष के लोग भगवान् के कार्यकलापों का, ऋषभदेव तथा अन्य अनेक अवतारों के रूप में, गुणगान करने के अभ्यस्त हैं। ये सारे कार्य मानवता के कल्याण हेतु अत्यन्त शुभ हैं।” ।। ५-६-१३ ।।

tasyAnuguNAn zlokAn gAyanti aho bhuvaH saptasamudravatyA dvIpeSu varSeSvadhipuNyametat | gAyanti yatratyajanA murAreH karmANi bhadrANyavatAravanti || 5-6-13 ||

अहो नु वंशो यशसावदातः प्रैयव्रतो यत्र पुमान् पुराणः । कृतावतारः पुरुषः स आद्यश्चचार धर्मं यदकर्महेतुम् ।। ५-६-१४ ।।

sanskrit

“Oh, what shall I say of the dynasty of Priyavrata, which is pure and very much celebrated. In that dynasty, the Supreme Person, the original Personality of Godhead, descended as an incarnation and executed religious principles that could free one from the results of fruitive activity. ।। 5-6-14 ।।

english translation

“ओह! भला मैं प्रियव्रत के वंश के सम्बन्ध में क्या कहूँ जो इतना विमल तथा अत्यन्त विख्यात है। इसी वंश में परम पुरुष भगवान् ने अवतार लिया और कर्मफलों से मुक्त करने वाले धार्मिक नियमों का आचरण किया।” ।। ५-६-१४ ।।

को न्वस्य काष्ठामपरोऽनुगच्छेन्मनोरथेनाप्यभवस्य योगी । यो योगमायाः स्पृहयत्युदस्ता ह्यसत्तया येन कृतप्रयत्नाः ।। ५-६-१५ ।।

sanskrit

“Who is that mystic yogī who can follow the examples of Lord Ṛṣabhadeva even with his mind? Lord Ṛṣabhadeva rejected all kinds of yogic perfection, which other yogīs hanker to attain. Who is that yogī who can compare to Lord Ṛṣabhadeva?” ।। 5-6-15 ।।

english translation

“भला ऐसा कौन योगी है जो अपने मन से भी भगवान् ऋषभदेव के आदर्शों का पालन कर सके? उन्होंने उन समस्त योग-सिद्धियों का तिरस्कार कर दिया था जिसके लिए अन्य योगी लालायित रहते हैं। भला ऐसा कौन योगी है जो भगवान् ऋषभदेव की समता कर सके?” ।। ५-६-१५ ।।
