यदा वृश्चिकादिषु पञ्चसु वर्तते तदाहोरात्राणि विपर्ययाणि भवन्ति ॥ ५-२१-५ ॥

When the sun passes through the five signs beginning with Vṛścika ॥ Scorpio॥, the duration of the days decreases ॥ until Capricorn॥, and then gradually it increases month after month, until day and night become equal ॥ in Aries॥. ॥ 5-21-5 ॥

english translation

जब सूर्य वृश्चिक इत्यादि पाँच राशियों से होकर गुजरता है, तो दिन घटता है (जब तक यह मकर राशि पर नहीं आ जाता) और फिर क्रमश: मास प्रति मास बढ़ता जाता है जब तक दिन और रात समान (मेष पर) नहीं हो जाते। ॥ ५-२१-५ ॥
