राजोवाच अहो नृजन्माखिलजन्मशोभनं किं जन्मभिस्त्वपरैरप्यमुष्मिन् । न यद्धृषीकेशयशःकृतात्मनां महात्मनां वः प्रचुरः समागमः ।। ५-१३-२१ ।।

King Rahūgaṇa said: This birth as a human being is the best of all. Even birth among the demigods in the heavenly planets is not as glorious as birth as a human being on this earth. What is the use of the exalted position of a demigod? In the heavenly planets, due to profuse material comforts, there is no possibility of associating with devotees. ।। 5-13-21 ।।

english translation

राज रहूगण ने कहा—यह मनुष्य जन्म समस्त योनियों में श्रेष्ठ है। यहाँ तक कि स्वर्ग में देवताओं के बीच जन्म लेना उतना यशपूर्ण नहीं जितना कि इस पृथ्वी पर मनुष्य के रूप में जन्म लेना। तो फिर देवता जैसे उच्च पद का क्या लाभ? स्वर्गलोक में अधाह भोग-सामग्री के कारण देवताओं को भक्तों की संगति का अवसर ही नहीं मिलता। ।। ५-१३-२१ ।।
