After his [Niṣāda’s] birth, he immediately took charge of all the resultant actions of King Vena’s sinful activities. As such, this Naiṣāda class are always engaged in sinful activities like stealing, plundering and hunting. Consequently they are only allowed to live in the hills and forests. ।। 4-14-46 ।।

जन्म होते ही उसने (निषाद ने) राजा वेन के समस्त पापपूर्ण कृत्यों के फलों को स्वयं धारण कर लिया। इसलिए यह निषाद जाति सदैव पापपूर्ण कृत्यों में—यथा चोरी, डाका तथा शिकार में—लगी रहती है। फलत: इन्हें पर्वतों तथा जंगलों में ही रहने दिया जाता है। ।। ४-१४-४६ ।।
