Srimad Bhagavatam
ब्रह्मवर्चसकामस्तु यजेत ब्रह्मणः पतिम् । इन्द्रमिन्द्रियकामस्तु प्रजाकामः प्रजापतीन् ॥ २-३-२ ॥
One who desires to be absorbed in the impersonal brahmajyoti effulgence should worship the master of the Vedas ॥ Lord Brahmā or Bṛhaspati, the learned priest॥, one who desires powerful sex should worship the heavenly King, Indra, and one who desires good progeny should worship the great progenitors called the Prajāpatis. ॥ 2-3-2 ॥

जो व्यक्ति निर्विशेष ब्रह्मज्योति तेज में लीन होने की कामना करता है, उसे वेदों के स्वामी (भगवान् ब्रह्मा या विद्वान पुरोहित बृहस्पति) की पूजा करनी चाहिए; जो प्रबल कामवासना का इच्छुक हो, उसे स्वर्ग के राजा इन्द्र की और जो अच्छी सन्तान का इच्छुक हो, उसे प्रजापतियों की पूजा करनी चाहिए। ॥ २-३-२ ॥
