Srimad Bhagavatam
नद्योऽस्य नाड्योऽथ तनूरुहाणि महीरुहा विश्वतनोर्नृपेन्द्र । अनन्तवीर्यः श्वसितं मातरिश्वा गतिर्वयः कर्म गुणप्रवाहः ॥ २-१-३३ ॥
O King, the rivers are the veins of the gigantic body, the trees are the hairs of His body, and the omnipotent air is His breath. The passing ages are His movements, and His activities are the reactions of the three modes of material nature. ॥ 2-1-33 ॥
english translation
हे राजन्, नदियाँ उस विराट शरीर की नसें हैं, वृक्ष रोम हैं और सर्वशक्तिमान वायु उनकी श्वास है। व्यतीत होते हुए युग उनकी गति तथा प्रकृति के तीनों गुणों की प्रतिक्रियाएँ ही उनके कार्यकलाप हैं। ॥ २-१-३३ ॥
