Srimad Bhagavatam
तत्रोपनीतबलयो रवेर्दीपमिवादृताः । आत्मारामंपूर्णकामं निजलाभेननित्यदा ॥ १-११-४ ॥
The citizens arrived before the Lord with their respective presentations, offering them to the fully satisfied and self-sufficient one, who, by His own potency, incessantly supplies others. These presentations were like the offering of a lamp to the sun. Yet the citizens began to speak in ecstatic language to receive the Lord, just as wards welcome their guardian and father. ॥ 1-11-(4-5) ॥

सारे नागरिक अपनी-अपनी भेंटें लिये हुए भगवान् के सम्मुख आये और उन्हें उन परम संतुष्ट तथा आत्म-निर्भर भगवान् को अर्पित किया, जो अपनी निजी शक्ति से अन्यों की आवश्यकताओं की निरन्तर पूर्ति करते रहते हैं। ये भेंटें सूर्य को दिये गये दीप-दान जैसी थीं। फिर भी सारे नागरिक भगवान् के स्वागत में ऐसी आह्लादमयी भाषा में बोलने लगे, मानो बच्चे अपने अभिभावक तथा पिता का स्वागत कर रहे हों। ॥ १-११-(४-५) ॥
