सूत उवाच । श्रवणादित्रिकेऽशक्तो लिंगं बेरं च शांकरम् । संस्थाप्य नित्यमभ्यर्च्य तरेत्संसारसागरम् १ ।
Sūta said: A person incompetent to perform the three rites of Śravaṇa etc. shall fix the phallic emblem (liṅga) or the image of Śiva and worship them every day. He can thus cross the ocean of worldly existence.
अपि द्र व्यं वहेदेव यथाबलमवंचयन् । अर्पयेल्लिंगबेरार्थमर्चयेदपि संततम् २ ।
As far as he can afford, the devotee shall make gifts of wealth too without deceiving others. He shall offer them to the phallic emblem or the image of Śiva. He must worship them constantly.
मंडपं गोपुरं तीर्थं मठं क्षेत्रं तथोत्सवम् । वस्त्रं गंधं च माल्यं च धूपं दीपं च भक्तितः ३ ।
The hall (maṇḍapa), the gateway (gopura), the holy place (tīrtha), the monastery (maṭha), the sacred land (kṣetra), and the festival (utsava); Clothes (vastra), fragrance (gandha), garlands (mālya), incense (dhūpa), and lamps (dīpa) — all offered with devotion.
विविधान्नं च नैवेद्यमपूपव्यंजनैर्युतम् । छत्रं ध्वजं च व्यजनं चामरं चापि सांगकम् ४ ।
Various types of food (naivedya) and offerings, including rice cakes (apūpa), and accompanied by dishes, An umbrella (chatra), a flag (dhvaja), a fan (vyajana), a chāmara (a type of fan made of hair), and a sacred vessel (sāṅgakam).
राजोपचारवत्सर्वं धारयेल्लिंगबेरयोः । प्रदक्षिणां नमस्कारं यथाशक्ति जपं तथा ५ ।
Everything shall be maintained in the worship of Śiva. In fact, all royal homage shall be paid. Circumambulation and obeisance with Japas according to capacity shall be performed.
