In the superior parts of the body, such as the forehead, ears, and eyes, as well as the nose, mouth, and throat, and further extending to the two hands, these are the sacred places (or marks) associated with the spiritual rituals.
कूर्परे मणिबंधे च हृदये पार्श्वयोर्द्वयोः । नाभौ मुष्कद्वये चैवमूर्वोर्गुल्फे च जानुनि ९९ ।
In the kūrpara (circular areas), on the wrist, the heart, on both sides of the body, in the navel, in the musk (area), on both knees, and on the ankles, these are all important points associated with spiritual practices.
On the two thighs, feet, and ankles, along with the thirty-three prominent places, and together with the Agni, Vayu, Dikpālas (Guardians of Directions), and Vasus (celestial beings), they are considered the most sacred.
