अथवा मूर्द्ध्नि केशे च कर्मयोर्वदने तथा १०६ब्। बाहुद्वये च हृदये नाभ्यामूरुयुगे तथा १०६ ।
Alternatively, one may place [the marks of the Tripundra] on the head (murdhni), hair, on the mouth, and on both arms, heart, navel, and the thighs as well.
जानुद्वये च पदयोः पृष्ठभागे च षोडश १०७ब्। शिवश्चन्द्र श्च रुद्र ः! को विघ्नेशो विष्णुरेव वा १०७ ।

Shri (the goddess of wealth) is to be placed on the heart, Shambhu (another name for Lord Shiva) is placed in the navel, Prajaapati (the lord of creation) is associated with the navel, Nagas (serpents) and Naga Kanyas (serpent maidens), along with Rishikanyas (the daughters of sages) from both sides.
The oceans are placed on the feet, Sacred pilgrimage sites are on the back, and vast regions are there. Thus, the sixteen and the eight locations are mentioned.
