अपि काषायवसनश्चर्मचीराम्बरो ऽथ वा ॥ एकाम्बरो वल्कली वा भवेद्दण्डी च मेखली ॥ २१ ॥
Or he can wear ochre robes, hide or barks of trees. Only a single cloth or a single bark garment shall be worn. He shall have the staff and the girdle.
english translation
api kASAyavasanazcarmacIrAmbaro 'tha vA ॥ ekAmbaro valkalI vA bhaveddaNDI ca mekhalI ॥ 21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रक्षाल्य चरणौ पश्चाद्द्विराचम्यात्मनस्तनुम् ॥ संकुलीकृत्य तद्भस्म विरजानलसंभवम् ॥ २२ ॥
After washing his feet, he should wash his body twice. The ashes produced by the fire were gathered together.
english translation
prakSAlya caraNau pazcAddvirAcamyAtmanastanum ॥ saMkulIkRtya tadbhasma virajAnalasaMbhavam ॥ 22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअग्निरित्यादिभिर्मंत्रैः षड्भिराथर्वणैः क्रमात् ॥ विभृज्यांगानि मूर्धादिचरणांतानि तैस्स्पृशेत् ॥ २३ ॥
The six Atharva mantras, beginning with Agni, were chanted in this order. With these one should spread the limbs, such as the head and the ends of the feet.

agnirityAdibhirmaMtraiH SaDbhirAtharvaNaiH kramAt ॥ vibhRjyAMgAni mUrdhAdicaraNAMtAni taisspRzet ॥ 23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्तेन क्रमेणैव समुद्धृत्य च भस्मना ॥ सर्वांगोद्धूलनं कुर्यात्प्रणवेन शिवेन वा ॥ २४ ॥
Then in the same way he shall dust the body entirely repeating the Praṇava Oṃ and ‘Śiva’.
english translation
tatastena krameNaiva samuddhRtya ca bhasmanA ॥ sarvAMgoddhUlanaM kuryAtpraNavena zivena vA ॥ 24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्त्रिपुण्ड्रं रचयेत्त्रियायुषसमाह्वयम् ॥ शिवभावं समागम्य शिवयोगमथाचरेत् ॥ २५ ॥
Then repeating the mantra ‘Triyāyuṣam’ he shall wear Tripuṇḍra marks. He shall realise his own Śiva-hood and perform ‘Śivayoga’.

tatastripuNDraM racayettriyAyuSasamAhvayam ॥ zivabhAvaM samAgamya zivayogamathAcaret ॥ 25 ॥
