नावेदविदुषे वाच्यमिदं शास्त्रमनुत्तमम् ॥ न चैवाश्रद्धधानाय नापुराणविदे तथा ॥ ६६ ॥

This excellent Śāstra shall not be mentioned to one who is not conversant with the Vedas nor to one who has no faith nor to one who does not know the Purāṇas.

english translation

nAvedaviduSe vAcyamidaM zAstramanuttamam ॥ na caivAzraddhadhAnAya nApurANavide tathA ॥ 66 ॥

परीक्षिताय शिष्याय धार्मिकायानसूयवे ॥ प्रदेयं शिवभक्ताय शिवधर्मानुसारिणे ॥ ६७ ॥

It shall be given to a tested virtuous disciple uncontaminated by malice. He shall be a devotee of Śiva and a follower of the Śaiva cult.

parIkSitAya ziSyAya dhArmikAyAnasUyave ॥ pradeyaM zivabhaktAya zivadharmAnusAriNe ॥ 67 ॥

पुराणसंहिता यस्य प्रसादान्मयि वर्तते ॥ नमो भगवते तस्मै व्यासायामिततेजसे ॥ ६८ ॥

Obeisance to the holy sage Vyāsa of brilliant splendour whose grace has endowed me with the Purāṇic lore.

english translation

purANasaMhitA yasya prasAdAnmayi vartate ॥ namo bhagavate tasmai vyAsAyAmitatejase ॥ 68 ॥
