शुक्लायान्तु तृतीयायामेवं श्रावणभाद्रयोः।। यो व्रतं कुरुतेऽम्बायाः पूजनं च यथाविधि ।। ७१ ।।

sanskrit

Thus on the third day of the bright fortnight of Sravana and Bhadra He who observes the vow and worships the mother in accordance with the prescribed rituals.

english translation

zuklAyAntu tRtIyAyAmevaM zrAvaNabhAdrayoH|| yo vrataM kurute'mbAyAH pUjanaM ca yathAvidhi || 71 ||

मोदते पुत्रपौत्राद्यैर्धनाद्यैरिह सन्ततम् ।। सोऽन्ते गच्छेदुमालोकं सर्वलोकोपरि स्थितम्।। ७२ ।।

sanskrit

He enjoys sons, grandsons, wealth and other things in this world constantly. He will at last go to the moonlight which is situated above all the worlds.

आश्विने धवले पक्षे नवरात्रव्रतं चरेत् ।। यत्कृते सकलाः कामास्सिद्ध्यन्त्येव न संशयः ।। ७३ ।।

sanskrit

The devotee shall observe the holy rites of Navarātra in the bright half of Āśvina and realise his desires undoubtedly.

english translation

Azvine dhavale pakSe navarAtravrataM caret || yatkRte sakalAH kAmAssiddhyantyeva na saMzayaH || 73 ||

नवरात्रव्रतस्यास्य प्रभावं वक्तुमीश्वरः ।। चतुरास्यो न पंचास्यो न षडास्यो न कोऽपरः ।। ७४।।

Neither Brahmā nor Śiva nor Kārttikeya nor any one else can describe the efficacy of the rite of Navarātra.

english translation

navarAtravratasyAsya prabhAvaM vaktumIzvaraH || caturAsyo na paMcAsyo na SaDAsyo na ko'paraH || 74||

नवरात्रव्रतं कृत्वा भूपालो विरथात्मजः।। हृतं राज्यं निजं लेभे सुरथो मुनिसत्तमाः ।। ७५ ।।

sanskrit

The king son of Viratha observed a vow of nine nights O foremost of the sages Suratha regained his kingdom which had been taken away.

english translation

navarAtravrataM kRtvA bhUpAlo virathAtmajaH|| hRtaM rAjyaM nijaM lebhe suratho munisattamAH || 75 ||
