ततोतिकोपपूर्णस्य विष्णोश्शंभोश्च वक्त्रतः ।। तथान्येषां च देवानां शरीरान्निर्गतं महः ।। ११ ।।

sanskrit

Then a great splendour issued forth from the mouths of the infuriated Viṣṇu and Śiva and from the bodies of other gods.

english translation

tatotikopapUrNasya viSNozzaMbhozca vaktrataH || tathAnyeSAM ca devAnAM zarIrAnnirgataM mahaH || 11 ||

अतीव महसः पुंजं ज्वलन्तं दशदिक्षु च ।। अपश्यंस्त्रिदशास्सर्वे दुर्गा ध्यानपरायणाः ।। १२ ।।

sanskrit

The gods who were devoted to meditation on Durgā saw the mass of splendour blazing in all the ten directions.

atIva mahasaH puMjaM jvalantaM dazadikSu ca || apazyaMstridazAssarve durgA dhyAnaparAyaNAH || 12 ||

सर्वदेवशरीरोत्थं तेजस्तदतिभीषणम् ।। संघीभूयाभवन्नारी साक्षान्महिषमर्दिनी ।। १३।।

That highly terrible splendour issuing forth from the bodies of the gods joined together and became a woman Mahiṣamardinī herself.

शंभुतेजस उत्पन्नं मुखमस्याः सुभास्वरम् ।। याम्येन बाला अभवन्वैष्णवेन च बाहवः ।। १४।।

sanskrit

Her dazzlingly brilliant face constituted the splendour of Śiva, the hairs the splendour of Yama and the arms the splendour of Viṣṇu.

english translation

zaMbhutejasa utpannaM mukhamasyAH subhAsvaram || yAmyena bAlA abhavanvaiSNavena ca bAhavaH || 14||

चन्द्रमस्तेजसा तस्याः स्तनयुग्मं व्यजायत।। मध्यमे न्द्रेण जंघोरू वारुणेन बभूवतुः ।। १५ ।।

The moon gave birth to a pair of breasts with its effulgence In the middle the thighs were made by Indra and Varuna.

english translation

candramastejasA tasyAH stanayugmaM vyajAyata|| madhyame ndreNa jaMghorU vAruNena babhUvatuH || 15 ||
