समालोक्यं तु तौ दैत्यौ सुरज्येष्ठो जनार्दनम् ।। शयानं च पयोम्भोधौ तुष्टाव परमेश्वरीम् ।। ५६।।

On seeing the two Daityas and observing that Viṣṇu was still lying in the vast milky ocean, Brahmā eulogised Parameśvarī.

english translation

samAlokyaM tu tau daityau surajyeSTho janArdanam || zayAnaM ca payombhodhau tuSTAva paramezvarIm || 56||

ब्रह्मोवाच।। रक्षरक्ष महामाये शरणागतवत्सले।। एताभ्यां घोररूपाभ्यां दैत्याभ्यां जगदम्बिके।। ५७।।

Brahmā said:— O Mahāmāyā, save me, save me, O goddess favourably disposed to those who seek refuge in you, O mother of the universe, save me from these Daityas of hideous features.

english translation

brahmovAca|| rakSarakSa mahAmAye zaraNAgatavatsale|| etAbhyAM ghorarUpAbhyAM daityAbhyAM jagadambike|| 57||

प्रणमामि महामायां योगनिद्रामुमां सतीम् ।। कालरात्रिं महारात्रिं मोहरात्रिं परात्पराम् ।। ५८।।

I bow to this chaste great illusory energy of yogic sleep. The night of time, the great night, the night of delusion, the night of the Supreme Being.

त्रिदेवजननीं नित्यां भक्ताभीष्टफलप्रदाम् ।। पालिनीं सर्वदेवानां करुणावरुणालयम् ।। ५९ ।।

She is the mother of the three gods and ever bestows the desired fruits on her devotees. She protects all the gods and is the abode of Varuna.

त्वत्प्रभावादहं ब्रह्मा माधवो गिरिजापतिः ।। सृजत्यवति संसारं काले संहरतीति च ।। ६०।।

It is by your power that Brahmā creates the world, Viṣṇu protects it and Śiva destroys it at the opportune time.

tvatprabhAvAdahaM brahmA mAdhavo girijApatiH || sRjatyavati saMsAraM kAle saMharatIti ca || 60||
