मामका ये महाशूरा नृपमन्यं भजन्ति ते ॥ पर्वताभा गजा अश्वा वातवद्वेगगामिनः ॥ ३१॥
Those mighty heroes of mine who worship another king The elephants and horses were like mountains and moved as fast as the wind.

पूर्वपूर्वार्जितः कोशः पाल्यते तैर्नवाधुना ॥ एवं मोहवशं यातो राजा परमधार्मिकः ॥ ३२ ॥
They are now keeping the treasury they have earned in the past Thus the supremely righteous king fell under the spell of delusion.

एतस्मिन्नंतरे तत्र वैश्यः कश्चित्समागतः॥ राजा पप्रच्छ कस्त्वं भोः किमर्थमिह चागतः॥ ३३॥
After this a vaisya came there. The king asked him who he was and why he had come here.

दुर्मना लक्ष्यसे कस्मादेतन्मे ब्रूहि साम्प्रतम् ॥ इत्याकर्ण्य वचो रम्यं नरपालेन भाषितम् ॥ ३४ ॥
Tell me now why you are looking so sad Having heard these pleasant words spoken by the king.

दृग्भ्यां विमुंचन्नश्रूणि समाधिर्वैश्यपुंगवः ॥ प्रत्युवाच महीपालं प्रणयावनतो गिरम् ॥ ३५ ॥
Samadhi the foremost of the vaisyas shed tears from his eyes She replied to the king in a loving and humble voice.
