स्वतंत्रश्चक्रवाकस्सस्पृहयामास तं नृपम्॥ दृष्ट्वा यांतं सुखोपेतं राज्यशोभासमन्वितम् ॥ ४१॥
The Cakravaka Svatantra yearned much, on seeing the happy king endowed with the glory of the kingdom pass along.
english translation
यद्यस्ति सुकृतं किंचित्तपो वा नियमोऽपि वा॥ खिन्नोहमुपवासेन तपसा निश्चलेन च ॥ ४२ ॥
If there is any good deed or austerity or ritual I am distressed by fasting and austerities and by remaining steady.
english translation
तस्य सर्वस्य पूर्णेन फलेनापि कृतेन हि ॥ सर्वसौभाग्यपात्रश्च भवेयमहमीदृशः ॥ ४३॥
Even with the full fruits of all that he has done I should be like this and be worthy of all the good fortune.
english translation
मार्कण्डेय उवाच ॥ ततस्तु चक्रवाकौ द्वावासतुस्सहचारिणौ॥ आवां वै सचिवौ स्याव तव प्रियहितैषिणौ ॥ ४४॥
Mārkaṇḍeya said:— Then two of his comrades said. “We shall be your ministers, your delighters and well-wishers.”

तथेत्युक्त्वा तु तस्यासीत्तदा योगात्मनो गतिः ॥ एवं तौ चक्रवाकौ च स्ववाक्यं प्रत्यभाषताम् ॥ ४५ ॥
After saying “So be it”, the Yogic soul attained his goal. The two Cakravākas replied to him.
