Shiva Purana
नैष कल्पविधिर्दृष्ट इति निश्चित्य चाप्यहम् ॥ कुशेष्वेव ततः पिंडं दत्तवानविचारयन् ॥ २१॥
Thinking that it was not the procedure enjoined in the Kalpa texts I placed the Piṇḍa on the Kuśa grass without further thought.
english translation
naiSa kalpavidhirdRSTa iti nizcitya cApyaham ॥ kuzeSveva tataH piMDaM dattavAnavicArayan ॥ 21॥
