तस्य पुत्रैः खनद्भिस्तु वालुकांतर्गतस्तु सः।। धुन्धुरासादितो ब्रह्मन्दिशमाश्रित्य पश्चि माम् ।। ३१ ।।

O brahmin, the demon Dhundhu was found out, concealed beneath the sand towards the western quarter as the sons of the king dug up the place.

english translation

tasya putraiH khanadbhistu vAlukAMtargatastu saH|| dhundhurAsAdito brahmandizamAzritya pazci mAm || 31 ||

मुखजेनाग्निना क्रोधाल्लोकान्संवर्तयन्निव ।। वारि सुस्राव वेगेन विधोः कधिरिवोदये।। ३२ ।।

He appeared to consume all the worlds out of fury in the fire emerging from his mouth. Water too gushed out from him as from the moon-stone at the moonrise.

mukhajenAgninA krodhAllokAnsaMvartayanniva || vAri susrAva vegena vidhoH kadhirivodaye|| 32 ||

ततोऽनलैरभिहतं दग्धं पुत्रशतं हि तत् ।। त्रय एवावशिष्टाश्च तेषु मध्ये मुनीश्वर ।। ३३।।

The hundred sons were scorched and burnt in the fire. O great sage, among them only three survived.

ततस्स राजा विप्रेन्द्र राक्षसं तं महाबलम् ।। आससाद महातेजा धुन्धुं विप्रविनाशनम् ।। ३४।।

O leading brahmin, then the king of great splendour rushed at the very powerful Rākṣasa, the brahmin-slayer Dhundhu.

tatassa rAjA viprendra rAkSasaM taM mahAbalam || AsasAda mahAtejA dhundhuM vipravinAzanam || 34||

तस्य वारिमयं वेगमापीय स नराधिपः ।। वह्निबाणेन वह्निं तु शमयामास वारिणा ।। ३५।।

The king quaffed off the gushing water through fiery arrows and quelled the fire through water.
