मूले षोडशसाहस्रः कर्णिकाकार संस्थितः ॥ हिमवान् हेमकूटश्च निषधश्चास्य दक्षिणे ॥ ६॥
Sixteen thousand ears are situated at the root. Himavan and Hemakuta and Nishad are on the south of it.
english translation
mUle SoDazasAhasraH karNikAkAra saMsthitaH ॥ himavAn hemakUTazca niSadhazcAsya dakSiNe ॥ 6॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनीलः श्वेतश्च शृङ्गी च उत्तरे वर्षपर्वताः ॥ दशसाहस्रिकं ह्येते रत्नवंतोऽरुणप्रभाः ॥ ७॥
The Varṣa mountains in the north are Nīla, Śveta and Śṛṅgin. The extent of these is ten thousand Yojanas. They are full of gems and have pinky lustre.
english translation
nIlaH zvetazca zRGgI ca uttare varSaparvatAH ॥ dazasAhasrikaM hyete ratnavaMto'ruNaprabhAH ॥ 7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसहस्रयोजनोत्सेधास्तावद्विस्तारिणश्च ते॥ भारतं प्रथमं वर्षं ततः किंपुरुषं स्मृतम्॥ ८॥
Their height is a thousand Yojanas and their width too is the same. Bharata is the first sub-continent. Then there is the Kimpuruṣa.
english translation
sahasrayojanotsedhAstAvadvistAriNazca te॥ bhArataM prathamaM varSaM tataH kiMpuruSaM smRtam॥ 8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहरिवर्षं ततो ऽन्यद्वै मेरोर्दक्षिणतो मुने ॥ रम्यकं चोत्तरे पार्श्वे तस्यांशे तु हिरण्मयम्॥ ९॥
Hari Varṣa is another which, O sage, is to the south of Meru. Ramyaka is on the northern side. In its part is Hiraṇmaya Varṣa.
english translation
harivarSaM tato 'nyadvai merordakSiNato mune ॥ ramyakaM cottare pArzve tasyAMze tu hiraNmayam॥ 9॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तरे कुरवश्चैव यथा वै भारतं तथा॥ नवसाहस्रमेकैकमेतेषां मुनिसत्तम ॥ १० ॥
In the north are the Kurus as well. O excellent sage, the extent of each of these, as in the case of Bharata, is nine thousand Yojanas.
english translation
uttare kuravazcaiva yathA vai bhArataM tathA॥ navasAhasramekaikameteSAM munisattama ॥ 10 ॥
