सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ पाराशर्य्य सुसंक्षेपाच्छृणु त्वं वदतो मम ॥ मण्डलं च भुवस्सम्यक् सप्तद्वीपादिसंयुतम् ॥ १ ॥
Sanatkumāra said:— O son of Parāśara, listen succinctly to what I explain, the sphere of the earth consisting of seven Dvīpas (continents).
english translation
जंबू प्लक्षश्शाल्मलिश्च कुशः क्रौञ्चश्च शाककः ॥ पुष्पकस्सप्तमस्सर्वे समुद्रैस्सप्तभिर्वृताः ॥ २ ॥
The seven continents [see notes] are Jambū, Plakṣa, Śālmali, Kuśa, Krauñca, Śāka, Puṣkara. These seven are surrounded by seven oceans.

लवणेक्षुरसौ सर्पिर्दविदुग्धजलाशयाः॥ जम्बुद्वीपस्समस्तानामेतेषां मध्यतः स्थितः ॥ ३ ॥
The seven oceans are salt sea, sugarcane juice sea, wine sea, ghee sea, curd sea, milk sea and pure water sea. Jambū Dvīpa is situated in the middle of all these.

तस्यापि मेरुः कालेयमध्ये कनकपर्वतः ॥ प्रविष्टः षोडशाधस्ताद्योजनैस्तस्य चोच्छ्रयः ॥ ४॥
In the middle of that also is the golden mountain Meru It entered sixteen yojanas below the ground and its height.
english translation
चतुरशीतिमानैस्तैर्द्वात्रिंशन्मूर्ध्नि विस्तृतः ॥ भूमिपृष्ठस्थशैलोऽयं विस्तरस्तस्य सर्वतः ॥ ५॥
They measured eighty-four feet and extended to thirty-two heads. This mountain on the surface of the earth is extensive on all sides.
