दातव्यं भिक्षवे चान्नं ब्राह्मणाय महात्मने ॥ कुटुंबं पीडयित्वापि ह्यात्मनो भूतिमिच्छता ॥ ३१॥
Even by putting one’s family to inconvenience and trouble one should give food to a mendicant brahmin of noble soul, if one wishes for one’s prosperity.
english translation
dAtavyaM bhikSave cAnnaM brAhmaNAya mahAtmane ॥ kuTuMbaM pIDayitvApi hyAtmano bhUtimicchatA ॥ 31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविददाति निधिश्रेष्ठं यो दद्यादन्नमर्थिने॥ ब्राह्मणायार्तरूपाय पारलौकिकमात्मनः ॥ ३२॥
He who gives food to a suppliant brahmin in distress actually makes an excellent deposit facilitating his benefit in the other world.
english translation
vidadAti nidhizreSThaM yo dadyAdannamarthine॥ brAhmaNAyArtarUpAya pAralaukikamAtmanaH ॥ 32॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअर्चयेद्भूतिमन्विच्छन्काले द्विजमुपस्थितम् ॥ श्रांतमध्वनि वृत्त्यर्थं गृहस्थो गृहमागतम् ॥ ३३ ॥
A householder, desirous of prosperity shall worship a brahmin who has approached him at the proper time for his livelihood, or who is travel-weary and comes to his house as a guest.
english translation
arcayedbhUtimanvicchankAle dvijamupasthitam ॥ zrAMtamadhvani vRttyarthaM gRhastho gRhamAgatam ॥ 33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्नदः पूजयेद्व्यासः सुशीलस्तु विमत्सरः ॥ क्रोधमुत्पतितं हित्वा दिवि चेह महत्सुखम् ॥ ३४॥
One who gives food should worship Vyasa who is of good character and free from envy Leaving behind the anger that has arisen there is great happiness in heaven.
english translation
annadaH pUjayedvyAsaH suzIlastu vimatsaraH ॥ krodhamutpatitaM hitvA divi ceha mahatsukham ॥ 34॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनाभिनिंदेदधिगतं न प्रणुद्यात्कथंचन ॥ अपि श्वपाके शुनि वा नान्नदानं प्रणश्यति॥ ३५॥
He should never condemn what he has achieved nor should he reject it in any way. Even if it is a dog or a cat, food is not lost.
english translation
nAbhiniMdedadhigataM na praNudyAtkathaMcana ॥ api zvapAke zuni vA nAnnadAnaM praNazyati॥ 35॥
