अथासौ भिक्षुवर्य्यो हि तस्मात्तस्याश्च सूतिकृत् ॥ भिक्षां ययाचे दुर्गान्तां नान्यज्जग्राह किञ्चन ॥५१॥
Then the chief of mendicants begged of Himavat and Menā the hand of Pārvatī as alms. He, the source of great enjoyment did not accept anything else.
english translation
athAsau bhikSuvaryyo hi tasmAttasyAzca sUtikRt ॥ bhikSAM yayAce durgAntAM nAnyajjagrAha kiJcana ॥51॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन स्वीचकार शैलैन्द्रो मोहितश्शिवमायया ॥ भिक्षुः किंचिन्न जग्राह तत्रैवान्तर्दधे ततः ॥ ५२ ॥
The lord of mountains deluded by Śiva’s magic did not accede to this request. The mendicant too did not take anything. He vanished from the scene.
english translation
na svIcakAra zailaindro mohitazzivamAyayA ॥ bhikSuH kiMcinna jagrAha tatraivAntardadhe tataH ॥ 52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदा बभूव सुज्ञानं मेनाशैलेशयोरिति ॥ आवां शिवो वञ्चयित्वा स्वस्थानं गतवान्प्रभुः ॥ ५३ ॥
Then Himavat and Menā realised that Śiva had deceived them and gone to His abode.
english translation
tadA babhUva sujJAnaM menAzailezayoriti ॥ AvAM zivo vaJcayitvA svasthAnaM gatavAnprabhuH ॥ 53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतयोर्विचिन्त्य तत्रैव शिवे भक्तिरभूत्परा ॥ महामोक्षकरी दिव्या सर्वानन्दप्रदायिनी ॥५४॥
After some pondering, they developed a feeling of devotion to Śiva who is the cause of salvation, the bestower of divine bliss.

tayorvicintya tatraiva zive bhaktirabhUtparA ॥ mahAmokSakarI divyA sarvAnandapradAyinI ॥54॥
