वेणी शिरसि ते दिव्या सर्पिणीव विभासिता ।। जटाजूटं शिवस्येव प्रसिद्धम्परिचक्षते ।। २६ ।।

On your head the divine plaited hair shines with glossy splendour like a serpent. But Śiva has only the matted hair to boast of.

english translation

veNI zirasi te divyA sarpiNIva vibhAsitA || jaTAjUTaM zivasyeva prasiddhamparicakSate || 26 ||

चंदनं च त्वदीयांगे चिताभस्म शिवस्य च ।। क्व दुकूलं त्वदीयं वै शांकरं क्व गजाजिनम् ।। २७ ।।

Sandal paste is applied on your body, while the ashes of the funeral pyre on that of Śiva. Where your silken garment and where the elephant-hide of Śiva.

caMdanaM ca tvadIyAMge citAbhasma zivasya ca || kva dukUlaM tvadIyaM vai zAMkaraM kva gajAjinam || 27 ||

Where the divine ornaments and where the serpents of Śiva? Where the deities that move about and where Śiva, fond of goblins and their oblations?

Where the pleasing sound of his tabor? Where His peculiar drum called Damaru? Where the set of fine drums and the inauspicious sound of his horn?
