॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ गतेषु तेषु देवेषु ब्रह्मादिषु निजाश्रमम् ॥ तत्तपस्सु परीक्षार्थं समाधिस्थोऽभवद्भवः ॥३॥

sanskrit

Brahmā said: When Brahmā and other gods had gone back to their respective abodes, Śiva entered into spiritual contemplation in order to test her penance.

english translation

॥ brahmovAca ॥ gateSu teSu deveSu brahmAdiSu nijAzramam ॥ tattapassu parIkSArthaM samAdhistho'bhavadbhavaH ॥3॥
