शिव उवाच ॥ अत्रैव सोऽहं तपसा परेण गिरे तव प्रस्थवरेऽतिरम्ये ॥ चरामि भूमौ परमार्थभावस्वरूपमानंदमयं सुलोचयन् ॥ २६ ॥
Śiva said: O lord of mountains, here itself on your beautiful excellent ridge, I shall perform my penance showing to the world my real blissful form and nature.
english translation
तपस्तप्तुमनुज्ञा मे दातव्या पर्वताधिप ॥ अनुज्ञया विना किंचित्तपः कर्तुं न शक्यते ॥ २७ ॥
O lord of mountains, permission shall be given to me to perform penance. Without your permission it is not possible for me (or any one else) to perform any penance here.
english translation
॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य देवदेवस्य शूलिनः ॥ प्रणम्य हिमवाञ्छंभुमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ २८ ॥
Brahmā said: On hearing these words of Śiva, the lord of gods, Himavat bowed to Śiva and said.
english translation
हिमवानुवाच ॥ त्वदीयं हि जगत्सर्वं सदेवासुरमानुषम् ॥ किमप्यहं महादेव तुच्छो भूत्वा वदामि ते ॥२९॥
Himavat said: The entire universe consisting of gods, Asuras and human beings, is yours. O great god, though insignificant, I blabber something to you.
english translation
॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ एवमुक्तो हिमवता शंकरो लोकशंकरः ॥ विहस्य गिरिराजं तं प्राह याहीति सादरम् ॥ 2-3-13-३० ॥
Brahmā said: Thus addressed by Himavat, Śiva, the benefactor of the worlds, laughingly permitted him to go.
