तच्छुत्वा त्वं मुने प्रात्थ महाकौतुककारकः ॥ हिमाचलं शुभैर्वाक्यैर्हर्षयन्वाग्विशारदः ॥ १६॥
On hearing that, O sage, you who are eloquent in speech, delighted Himavat by your sweet words of auspicious import and spoke to console him.
english translation
tacchutvA tvaM mune prAttha mahAkautukakArakaH ॥ himAcalaM zubhairvAkyairharSayanvAgvizAradaH ॥ 16॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनारद उवाच ॥ स्नेहाच्छृणु गिरे वाक्यं मम सत्यं मृषा न हि ॥ कररेखा ब्रह्मलिपिर्न मृषा भवति धुवम् ॥ १७॥
Nārada said: O lord of mountains, listen to my words with affability. They are true. They cannot be false. The lines in the palm are the lines of Brahmā. They cannot be untrue.
english translation
nArada uvAca ॥ snehAcchRNu gire vAkyaM mama satyaM mRSA na hi ॥ kararekhA brahmalipirna mRSA bhavati dhuvam ॥ 17॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतादृशोऽस्याः पतिः शैल भविष्यति न संशयः ॥ तत्रोपायं शृणु प्रीत्या यं कृत्वा लप्स्यसे सुखम् ॥ १८॥
O lord of mountains, there is no doubt that her husband will be such a person. You now hear what you have to do whereby you will be happy.
english translation
tAdRzo'syAH patiH zaila bhaviSyati na saMzayaH ॥ tatropAyaM zRNu prItyA yaM kRtvA lapsyase sukham ॥ 18॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतादृशोऽस्ति वरः शम्भुलीलारूपधरः प्रभुः ॥ कुलक्षणानि सर्वाणि तत्र तुल्यानि सद्गुणैः ॥ १९॥
There is a bridegroom like that. He is lord Śiva who has sportively assumed a physical form. In Him all bad characteristics are equal to good characteristics.
english translation
tAdRzo'sti varaH zambhulIlArUpadharaH prabhuH ॥ kulakSaNAni sarvANi tatra tulyAni sadguNaiH ॥ 19॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रभौ दोषो न दुःखाय दुःखदोऽत्यप्रभौ हि सः ॥ रविपावकगंगानां तत्र ज्ञेया निदर्शना ॥2-3-8-२० ॥
In a majestic person a defect does not produce misery. It may well cause misery in a non-majestic person. Sun, fire and Gaṅgā may be cited as examples.

prabhau doSo na duHkhAya duHkhado'tyaprabhau hi saH ॥ ravipAvakagaMgAnAM tatra jJeyA nidarzanA ॥2-3-8-20 ॥
