कुत एवात्र संभूतः परीक्षावो ऽग्निसंभवम् ॥ अधो गमिष्याम्यनलस्तंभस्यानुपमस्य च ॥५१॥
Whence has this arisen? Let us examine this fire-Being. I shall go down to find the root of this matchless column of fire.
english translation
kuta evAtra saMbhUtaH parIkSAvo 'gnisaMbhavam ॥ adho gamiSyAmyanalastaMbhasyAnupamasya ca ॥51॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरीक्षार्थं प्रजानाथ तस्य वै वायुवेगतः ॥ भवानूर्द्ध्वं प्रयत्नेन गंतुमर्हति सत्वरम् ॥ ५२ ॥
O lord of subjects, with the speed of the wind you will please go up to examine its top.
english translation
parIkSArthaM prajAnAtha tasya vai vAyuvegataH ॥ bhavAnUrddhvaM prayatnena gaMtumarhati satvaram ॥ 52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मोवाच ॥ एवं व्याहृत्य विश्वात्मा स्वरूपमकरोत्तदा ॥ वाराहमहप्याशु हंसत्वं प्राप्तवान्मुने ॥ ॥ ५३ ॥
Brahmā continues the story: Having said so, Viṣṇu assumed the form of a Boar. O sage, I became a swan immediately.
english translation
brahmovAca ॥ evaM vyAhRtya vizvAtmA svarUpamakarottadA ॥ vArAhamahapyAzu haMsatvaM prAptavAnmune ॥ ॥ 53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदा प्रभृति मामाहुर्हंसहंसो विराडिति ॥ हंसहंसेति यो ब्रूयात्स हंसोऽथ भविष्यति ॥ ५४ ॥
From that time onwards, people call me Haṃsa-Haṃsa, a supreme Being॥ 2॥, Virāṭ, an illustrious Being. He who repeats ‘HaṃsaHaṃsa’, shall become a swan (a symbol of purity and discrimination.
english translation
tadA prabhRti mAmAhurhaMsahaMso virADiti ॥ haMsahaMseti yo brUyAtsa haMso'tha bhaviSyati ॥ 54 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसुश्वे ह्यनलप्रख्यो विश्वतः पक्षसंयुतः ॥ मनोनिलजवो भूत्वा गत्वोर्द्ध्वं चोर्द्ध्वतः पुरा ॥५५॥
Very white of complexion and endowed with wings on either side I flew up and up with the speed of the mind and wind.

suzve hyanalaprakhyo vizvataH pakSasaMyutaH ॥ manonilajavo bhUtvA gatvorddhvaM corddhvataH purA ॥55॥
