एवं मम हरेश्चासीत्संगरो रोमहर्षणः ॥ प्रलयार्णवमध्ये तु रजसा बद्धवैरयोः ॥ ४६ ॥
Inimical to each other due to Rajoguṇa, we fought a fierce battle in the middle of that vast expanse of the sea of Dissolution.

एतस्मिन्नंतरे लिंगमभवच्चावयोः पुरः॥ विवादशमनार्थं हि प्रबोधार्थं तथाऽऽवयोः ॥४७॥
Meanwhile a phallic image appeared before us in order to enlighten us and to settle out dispute.

ज्लामालासहस्राढ्यं कालानलशतोपमम्॥ क्षयवृद्धि विनिर्मुक्तमादिमध्यांतवर्जितम्॥४८॥
It had no beginning, middle or end. It had neither decrease nor increase. It was as furious as hundreds of the fire of death with thousands of leaping rows of flames.

अनौपम्यमनिर्देश्यमव्यक्तं विश्वसंभवम् ॥ तस्य ज्वालासहस्रेण मोहितो भगवान्हरिः॥४९॥
It was unequalled, inexpressible unmanifest universal Being. The lord Viṣṇu became unconscious by its thousand flames.

मोहितं चाह मामत्र किमर्थं स्पर्द्धसेऽधुना ॥ आगतस्तु तृतीयोऽत्र तिष्ठतां युद्धमावयोः ॥ 2-1-7-५० ॥
When I too became senseless, Viṣṇu said to me. Oh, why do you contend with me now? A third person has now come. Let our quarrel cease.
